Sheffield Heeley selects a GP with a lot of local connections to fight the forthcoming General Election for the Conservatives.
From as far back as she can remember Dr Anne Crampton has been interested in Politics.
Maybe this stems from her background. Her great grandmother was a Suffragette in Hull and her grandmother was a trade union activist and represented the women workers at the Cod Liver Oil factory in Hull. Anne was born in a two up, two down terraced house in a street behind the fish docks and moved to a housing estate in East Hull when she was four years old.
She moved to Sheffield in 1979 to attend the Sheffield Medical School.
After qualifying, Anne worked at the Hallamshire, Northern General and Chesterfield Royal Hospitals, caring for the people of Sheffield as a Doctor until she moved to Berkshire to become a General Practitioner.
Anne kept up the family traditions of representing people through the Trade Union Movement as a branch official of the A.S.T.M.S.while working in the medical laboratories at Kingston General Hospital in Hull and then in Bracknell Anne was elected to represent G.P's and patients on the Local Medical Committee.
Anne has combined caring for people medically in the community with representing people of her profession, both caring for her patients' health and representing others has been her life.
Anne now wishes to represent the people in Parliament and to uphold the values of the N.H.S.
Anne is a passionate believer in the N.H.S. providing care irrespective of the ability to pay for everyone, from the cradle to the grave.
Anne is married to Andrew a consultant paediatrician, originally from Rotherham, and she has two daughters both born at the Jessop Hospital in Sheffield. Her elder daughter has just graduated from Sheffield University.
Anne's interests outside of Politics and Medicine are Ballroom dancing and she plays the Double Bass in a local orchestra. They perform concerts three times a year for various charities.
Two years ago, Anne became a Parish Councillor where she has two special interests. The first is local transport and the second is flood prevention following her own home being flooded two years ago. She knows how devastating losing your home can be and is now working within her community to prevent it happening again. |
